Hi, my name’s Craig Ellyard. Sometimes known as a grumpy old man. Often as an old git.
It’s a moniker I embrace.
I was inspired to put this blog together by a colleague at work. Mr D. Young to be accurate. And your name sir will be no protection against growing old. You too will be old someday.
Old and dazed. Grumpy old man or woman. Old git. Old codger.
There are plenty of ways to describe the more senior among us. At least the old is consistent.
What is an old git?
Unsurprisingly, most of us are old. In body if not mind.
But, being an old git is just as much a state of mind as it is of age.
We collectively yearn for the good old days. When life was simpler.
We look back with growing fondness at decades past. Some of us look back through black & white glasses at the 1930s. Others go even further back.
The new breed of old git wishes to return to the 1990s. Millennials will be climbing aboard the moaning bandwagon soon.
Not that we always think things were better back in the day. Just different. More comfortable. Less complicated.
But, if all old gits have something in common it is this:
The kids of today don’t know they are born. Or how lucky they are. Their music is crap as well.
It has surely ever being so. And will always be so.
The big question – how old is OldnDazed?
You don’t have to be over 70, 60 or even 50 to be OldnDazed. You just need to enjoy nostalgia, embrace retro and love vintage.
Everyone can be proud to be an old git. No matter how old or young they are.
